BioHorizon SC2 and KET-B Brokerage Event

Societal Challenge (SC) 2 in Horizon 2020:

'Food Security, Sustainable Agriculture and Forestry, Marine, Maritime and Inland Water Research and the Bioeconomy'

Do you intend to prepare a proposal addressing a topic under the challenge?

The European Commission organises an Info Day on Horizon 2020 Societal Challenge 2  (SC2) ‘Food security, sustainable agriculture and forestry, marine and maritime and inland water research and the bioeconomy’. The event will take place in Brussels on 25 June 2018 and will showcase the calls for 2019 of the new version of the SC2 Work Programme for 2018-2020. More detailed information on the Info Day programme is provided on this page.

Following the Info Day, on 26 June 2018, there will be a corresponding brokerage eventorganised by the EU-funded BioHorizon project. Offered free of charge, the purpose of the brokerage event is to help you find the right partners for the upcoming 2019 calls under SC2 and the Key Enabling Technology 'Biotechnology' (KET-B). The 2018-2020 work programmes have been published on 27 October 2017, making this the perfect opportunity to start building your consortium!

The event organiser reserves the right to close the registration before the indicated date in case the maximal capacity is reached!

26 June 2018 – BioHorizon International Brokerage Event

The BioHorizon brokerage event will be dedicated to consortium building. The main part of the event will comprise bilateral meetings between people interested in the same call topics for 2019. Following successful registration for the event, participants can pre-arrange these bilateral meetings automatically by means of a sophisticated, user-friendly match-making tool based on the profiles and research interests recorded in the system by participants.

In addition to the bilateral meetings between potential project partners, participants will also be able to meet with representatives of various supporting bodies and initiatives, as well as with the NCPs from the BioHorizon project, responsible for the organisation of the event. This represents an opportunity for attendees to draw on personalised support and information.

The event programme will also provide researchers and entrepreneurs a platform to present their project ideas in 5 minute presentations.

How a partnering event works?

Focus

The BioHorizon brokerage event will target a wide spectrum of companies, universities, government organisations and NGOs, and others involved in research, from Europe and beyond, interested in sharing new project ideas and finding collaboration partners. The thematic focus of the event will cover all of the Horizon 2020 SC2 and KET-B calls for 2019.

Main topics

  • Sustainable food security – Resilient and resource-efficient value chains
  • Blue growth – Demonstrating an ocean of opportunities
  • Rural renaissance – Fostering innovation and business opportunities
  • KET-Biotechnology

Why participate?

  • To facilitate the setup of Horizon 2020 project consortia
  • To present, discuss and develop new project ideas at an international level
  • To initiate cross-border contacts
  • To receive first-hand advice and support from Commission and NCP staff

The organisers expect that the demand for places will be high. Priority of participation will be granted to registrants who provide high quality research profiles and indicate specific project application initiatives based on the upcomg calls. Participation is limited to two people representing the same department/organisation.

Flash presentations

Researchers and entrepreneurs are also invited to present their project ideas addressing topics contained in the SC2 and KET Biotechnology work programme for 2019 in short 'flash presentations'. Interest in presenting a flash presentation can be indicated at registration. These presentations should preferably be made by prospective project coordinators. A presentation template will be provided by the event organisers.

Webinar ‘How to maximize your matchmaking opportunities’

Matchmaking events offer participants the opportunity to expand their network, find potential collaboration partners with the right expertise, and establish new project consortia. However, newcomers to this kind of events that are not well aware of the rules of the game of networking are often not able to utilize their full potential.

With this webinar, Ms Elena Angiolini from the BioHorizon NCP network explained how to make best use of matchmaking events and provided attendees with some do’s and don’ts and valuable tips how to maximise the event’s outcome. All steps, from the creation of cooperation profiles before the event to the pitching during an event and the follow-up afterwards have been addressed.

The training took place on 28 September 2017. Here you can watch the recording of the webinar and download the presentation in PDF format.
